Invitation - Join us for a drink and a talk about Alexandra Blum's new drawings of London

You are warmly invited for a drink and a short talk by artist Alexandra Blum about her new drawings of London at 3pm on Saturday 21st October at Fitzrovia Gallery, 139 Whitfield Street, London, W1T 5EN.

Living life in an urban sprawl can often result in getting subsumed by the daily drudgery and losing perspective on the breathtakingly diverse and juxtaposed environment that is a city. So, why not join Alexandra Blum at her solo show “Wayfaring, An Exhibition of Drawings” and take a moment to travel through London by immersing yourself in her art.

Alexandra was a MEXT scholar at Kyoto City University of Arts from 1996-98 and is passionate about expressing our journey of life in urban spaces through drawing. Her drawings have been included in various exhibitions and have won awards including the Hugh Casson Drawing Prize in 2019, an Oppenheim-John Downes Memorial Award in 2012, and First Prize in the David Gluck Memorial Bursary for Drawing in 2008.

Alexandra will give a short talk discussing how and why she draws and how her journey and passions - including studying ways of depicting movement through time and space in Japan -  have shaped her work. The talk will take place within her show 'Wayfaring' at Fitzrovia Gallery and Alexandra will guide you around her panoramic drawings, enabling you to look closely to discover how she constructs journeys within her drawings, in order to reveal the many events which took place within each location as she drew.

Admission is free, but please RSVP in advance by email to: AlexandraBlumDrawing@gmail.com.

You can see images of her drawings and read more about Alexandra and the “Wayfaring” exhibition at this link (URL will be hyperlinked to “link” https://www.alexblum.co.uk/wayfaring). Following the talk, there will be an informal BAMS social at a nearby pub – all are welcome to join.
